A FEW SIMPLE STEPS
Get started
- Create a note and choose YAML; searching .yml also finds the mode.
- Paste your configuration or import a .yaml or .yml file.
- Use Format, then review indentation and compare important changes.
- Download the source and validate it with your application or configuration tooling.
Open editor takes you to the draft on this page. Paste or open a source file, or choose Try this example. Save to notebook keeps a named copy with your notes. Your workspace style stays unchanged.
Review structure and indentation
YAML indentation changes the structure of a document. Keep related keys aligned, inspect list items, and use Format to make supported YAML easier to read before comparing versions.
The snippet library includes YAML examples and can be filtered to the focused editor’s language. Keep your own configuration patterns as custom snippets, with comments explaining the values that change between environments.
Check the configuration with its owning tool
YAML formatting is not Kubernetes schema validation, a CI workflow check, or an application configuration test. A document can parse as YAML and still contain an option the target system does not accept.
Copy or download the final file and check it using the tool that will consume it. Use JSON mode when you need to inspect a JSON response in a table; changing the editor mode does not convert formats.
A few questions
Does the editor validate Kubernetes or CI schemas?
No. YAML editing and formatting do not verify the schema or meaning expected by Kubernetes, a CI provider, or your application.
