BASH / SHELL EDITOR

A shell script editor for commands worth keeping.

Write down a deployment command, annotate a shell loop, or keep a script you do not use often enough to remember. Bash / Shell mode makes .sh notes easier to read in your browser.

Your local draft

This draft is shared with the full editor for this task and stays separate from named notes. Export a copy or save to notebook to include it in a notebook backup. This editor page and its tools reopen offline after the editor reports readiness. Informational and privacy guides need a connection.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

Get started

  1. Create a note and search for Bash, Shell, or .sh in the language chooser.
  2. Paste your script and add comments about its inputs and environment.
  3. Use find and replace or comparison panes to review changes.
  4. Download the .sh source and test it in your own shell.

Open editor takes you to the draft on this page. Paste or open a source file, or choose Try this example. Save to notebook keeps a named copy with your notes. Your workspace style stays unchanged.

Keep the explanation beside the command

Use comments for expected paths, required environment variables, and the shell you intend to use. Save a quoted command together with a short example of its input so you can recognize the assumptions later.

The snippet library can hold commands you reuse. Compare an old script with a revision to check changes to flags, paths, and quoting before taking it back to a terminal.

A script notebook without terminal access

Editing a command does not execute it. Blob Notebook does not provide a terminal, connect to a server, or run shell commands on your machine.

Shell dialects can differ. Review formatting changes, verify quoting and variable expansion, and test the final .sh file in the environment it is meant for.

A few questions

Does this page run Bash commands?

No. It edits and saves shell script text. The notebook has no terminal session or server connection.
