An online notepad that keeps your notes in this browser.

Keep a scratchpad for a phone call, clean up a block of text, or save a thought before it disappears. Blob Notebook, also called Blob Notes, is a free browser notepad with local saving and no account to create.

Enable JavaScript to edit here, or open the full editor above. The example and guide are always available.

This draft is shared with the full editor for this task and stays separate from named notes. Export a copy or save to notebook to include it in a notebook backup. This editor page and its tools reopen offline after the editor reports readiness. Informational and privacy guides need a connection.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

Get started

  1. Open the notebook and create a note.
  2. Search the document language chooser for Plain Text or .txt.
  3. Type or paste your text, give the note a title, and wait for the saved status.
  4. Download the note or export a notebook backup when you need a separate copy.

Open editor takes you to the draft on this page. Paste or open a source file, or choose Try this example. Save to notebook keeps a named copy with your notes. Your workspace style stays unchanged.

Edit text without opening a project

Choose Plain Text for lists, rough drafts, pasted logs, and everyday notes. Find and replace repeated words, turn on word wrap for long paragraphs, and use separate notes to keep unrelated thoughts apart.

Star a note you return to often or add tags to group a few notes together. Notebook search helps you find the text later; you can also compare two versions using the comparison panes.

Local saving and portable text files

Your notes save in this browser on this device. Download an individual note when you need a .txt file, or use Settings → Backup & Restore to move a notebook to another browser.

Local saving does not synchronize devices. Clearing site data, using a temporary browser profile, or losing access to this browser can remove your notes. Keep a backup of anything you need.

A few questions

Is this an online or offline text editor?

Open it online first. Once the app shows “Ready to use offline”, you can reopen /app/ in the same browser without a connection. The offline guide explains how to check this before relying on it.

Can I use it without signing in?

Yes. Notes are kept in your browser and no account is needed. Other people cannot open a public link to your locally saved note.
