NOTE PRIVACY

Your notes stay on your device. No cloud note storage.

Write without handing your notebook to a cloud service. Blob Notebook stores your notes in this browser and processes editing, formatting, and comparisons on your device. The app does not upload your notebook to us.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

Get started

  1. Open the notebook in the browser profile where you want to keep your notes.
  2. Write normally. Notes save on this device without an account or an upload.
  3. For offline use, wait for “Ready to use offline” and test the notebook without a connection.
  4. Use Settings → Backup & Restore when you want a separate copy that you can keep or move yourself.

No service holding a copy of your notebook

Your note text, titles, tags, comparison panes, and custom snippets are saved in browser storage. There is no account, remote notebook database, note-upload endpoint, or automatic cloud sync in Blob Notebook.

Formatting, JSON tools, and comparisons run in your browser. Exporting a note or backup downloads a file to your device; the app does not send that file to a storage service. You decide where to put it afterward.

What still uses an internet connection

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Your browser contacts the website host to download the application files and check for updates. Hosting the website does not store your notebook: the app does not include your notes in those requests.

Preview images, HTML scripts, and external resources are blocked by default. Enabling them requires a warning and confirmation for the current preview; enabled content can contact other websites and may send information from that preview. External links and the support link open other websites. Use content you trust, or work offline when you do not need those resources.

Privacy also depends on your browser and device

Local saving is not a password lock or notebook encryption. Someone with access to your device, browser profile, or browser data may be able to read locally stored notes. Browser extensions and the security of your device are outside the notebook’s control.

Connected local files are written only when you choose Save to file or Save as. A remembered connection stays in this browser and may require permission again after reopening. File permissions are not included in notebook backups.

Dated recovery points also stay in this browser. Their count and storage are bounded, so older points are removed. Clearing site data or losing the browser profile can remove your notebook, drafts, recovery points, and remembered file connections. There is no remote copy for us to restore. Keep a downloaded backup somewhere you control, and remember that a backup file contains your notes too.

Check local processing in your browser

Open your browser’s developer tools and choose its Network panel. Use fictional text, edit a note, and run a conversion while recording the requests.

Inspect the requests made during those actions. Distinguish application files and update checks from document contents; loading the app or a tool can request files without uploading your text.

This check concerns the actions observed in that browser session. Explicitly enabled external preview resources have their own network behavior, as explained above.

A few questions

Can the developer read my saved notes?

Blob Notebook has no note-storage service for the developer to read. The app does not upload your notes; the saved notebook is in your browser on your device.

Are my notes encrypted or password protected?

The notebook does not add password protection or encryption to its browser storage or exported backups. Local-only saving keeps your notes out of a cloud notebook service; device and browser access still matter.

Can I move my notes without cloud sync?

Yes. Export a notebook backup and import it into the other browser or device yourself. The app does not transfer the file for you.
